Continuing Legal Education is required to maintain a license in Good Standing. Mr. McLane has exceeded those minimum requirements in some years.

I did not plan this route from the beginning. It is only in hindsight that you see a straight line in what might otherwise look like a twisted mess. 1 My mental health education greatly informs my legal preparation. My love for theology, not only helps my mental health personally, it puts in perspective the trees in the forest. I have found that God is a participant, not only in life generally, but in the courtroom as well. If I become your attorney, you are the boss. I attempt to link to God through my prayers and reading and obeying the Bible. If you become my boss, you can interrupt that link or you can join in that link. I don't mean that you have to be a perfect Christian. I do mean that if your motives are not honorable, then some of the favor that could be yours by the power of truth and righteousness, could be diminished. So starting right now, begin to do battle in a new way. Start with the prayer taught to us by the Master, Lord Jesus, himself. Click here to begin.

First, don't worry about whose side God is on. Pray that you place yourself on God's side. That is where the victory is. It is not greedy to expect what the law says you are entitled to, but it can be a distraction from God's Will. However, it is not the legislature, or the judge, or the jury who gives any good thing. They are also participants but only when they are inspired to know the truth, will they vote the right way. All Scripture is God breathed. 2 God says He is the one who gives every good and perfect gift. 3

Second, pray for victory "but not my will but thine be done." 4 The definition of victory to the optimist can be anything, such as "I had my day in court." That day may not be over when the Judge renders his ruling. Appeals are not uncommon because judges are human and they make mistakes or there are new subtleties that require a different result than what has always been. Appeals courts don't change just because there is a new subltely. It has to have an impact on our society. A client must count the cost before he gets into a lawsuit expecting victory because those costs may be significant. 5

Third, work on yourself as a person. This is the true battle and how you engage the battle, may allow you to know Jesus as "God with you" in not only the legal actions you take, but in all your relationships. You will make plenty of mistakes in your own eyes, but He asks you to ask Him to help you. 6
